The driver allegedly called himself "Torrey," and gave someone else's phone number before making off with the dresses, the outlet said.
Azaria Bridal in Freehold said that the driver called the business on Tuesday, May 17, confirming that he could pick up and deliver dresses for the company, the report says citing court papers.
“Uber does not confirm the authenticity of driver credentials, driver identity or vehicle registration,” the lawsuit says. The suit alleges negligent hiring, fraud and injury to the business' reputation, according to the report.
An Uber spokesman declined to comment on the lawsuit but said the company has a team of former police officers that investigates complaints, the outlet said.
